Evelyn Li (BCom 1999) was recruited by the Hudson’s Bay Company during her last year at Sauder and worked as Sales Manager and Special Events Co-ordinator at the Richmond and Vancouver downtown Bay stores.  In 2002, she left to pursue a law degree.  Drawing on her business degree and background, she works as a lawyer in the Business Law Group at Ogilvy Renault LLP.  Her practice is focused on public and private offerings, mergers and acquisitions and general corporate matters. She works on diverse legal and business issues with colleagues and clients, describing it as "always interesting, challenging and very rewarding."

Originally from Hong Kong,  Evelyn immigrated to Richmond BC in 1988. In her heart, she considers herself to be a Vancouverite, but has totally embraced the Toronto lifestyle. When not working, she enjoys trying new restaurants, shopping for food at the St. Lawrence Market and subjecting her friends to her “culinary experiments”.  “Working and living downtown, there is always something going on - I never feel alone or unsafe, no matter how late I work.”

When asked for advice for recent Sauder graduates she draws on wisdom from her Mom and several previous mentors:

Everyone comes to work genuinely trying to succeed, so be sensitive when providing feedback.

It’s ok to say “I don’t know”. As frustrating as it may be at the time (to both you and the person who asked
you), it is much better to find out the correct answer than respond quickly with the wrong one."
